About Phil

Thank you for considering me to be part of your design team as you reimagine the landscape of your home or business. I approach every project with the philosophy of the “three legs of the landscape stool”: design, construction, and maintenance. Without all three, the result is unstable.
The foundation of my design philosophy and office practice is based on 50+ years of industry experience. Since opening my office in Healdsburg in 1986, I have applied this design experience to all phases and scales of landscape architecture. With my intimate knowledge of landscape construction and attention to design detail, ranging in projects from small “vest pocket gardens” of 100 sq. ft. to 55-acre regional parks, my clients are guaranteed a final site and landscape design of the highest quality.
My focus is on creating exceptional design, supported by project management and a long-term view of maintenance, ensuring landscapes of lasting beauty, function, and value.
I am deeply committed to the local community and contribute to projects such as playfield development and tree planting at all Healdsburg public schools and parks. I also donate my time, talents, and resources to local nonprofits and churches.
I currently serve on the Board of Directors of the Healdsburg Future Farmers Country Fair, where I chair several committees, including the Barn Dance and Dinner and Booths/Grounds, and contribute to long-term planning and scholarship initiatives.
Outside of my professional life, I’ve been married to my wife, Sally, for over 40 years, and we have three grown children, all of whom were raised in Sonoma County.
Thank you for considering me for your next landscape project!
